Corporal Michael Thacker was killed in Afghanistan in 2012. Two of his mates are organising a rugby match in his memory and to raise money for Scotty’s Little Soliders– a charity that helps children who have lost a parent while serving in the British Armed Forces.

Watch Dave Allison and Luke Simmonds talk about the event and invite everyone along to this special day on Saturday 23 May at Caerleon RFC. We filmed this clip at Cwmbran boating lake and in a lovely coincidence bumped into Paula and her daughter Tegan who have been supported by Scotty’s Little Soldiers. They appear in this video.

The day starts 12pm and kids can enjoy loads of things including an assault course, a bouncy castle and face painting. he main event is a memorial rugby game between the world record winning team Scotty’s Rugby vs Caerleon RFC select for the Cpl Mike Thacker Cup.

“We are inviting the public to come down and celebrate the lives of servicemen and women who have paid the ultimate sacrifice whilst serving in the Armed Forces. We have arranged a fun day for both adults and children, bouncy castles, face painting, live music and much much more.

“The charity that will be supported is Scotty’s Little Soldiers, a charity that was selected by the wife of Cpl Mike Thacker in his memory.”
