Keith Jefferies had been fighting and coaching at Newbridge Boxing Club for years when a Cwmbran councillor approached him and asked if he would open a gym in the town. As a valleys boy he was a bit apprehensive but was finding it difficult to get to the club during the winter months.

He opened the doors of Cwmbran Boxing Club in Northville 49 years and has never looked back. Thousands of people have trained in the club gaining new skills, increased confidence and discipline. Keith is now 82-years-old and still opens the gym three nights a week and takes the boxers through their paces on the pads in the ring. The club also has three coaches who work alongside Keith to help the club continue producing talented boxers
