Welsh football international Danny Gabbidon is helping to raise money for a former Cwmbran teacher who suffered a double stroke.

Danny grew up in Cwmbran and will be playing for a team in the Give 4 Scriv day on the fields next to Cwmbran Stadium this Saturday 30 May.

Paul “Scriv” Scriven was a geography teacher at Croesyceiliog School when in 2009 he unexpectedly collapsed and was rushed to hospital. He has since been unable to move or talk and lives in the Leonard Cheshire home near Caerleon.

Since then a group of friends have been helping to raise case for a trust fund to help his life be a bit more comfortable. His condition means he can only move his thumb and forefinger.

Fun for all the family
Cartoon characters will be walking around the pitches. The event is free to enter. A food and beer tent will be set up and run by Cwmbran Celtic FC who have been a huge help in organising the event.

All the money raised will go to Give 4 Scriv.

The tournament
Twenty-four team have entered and organisers are reminding all the players to bring some friends and family to help raise as much as possible. It kicks off at 10am.

Organisers would appreciate any items for the raffle.

Keep at eye on the Give 4 Scriv Facebook page
