Sara Stevens, 46, from, Cwmbran, will be running the Morrisons Great Birmingham 10k in May- to raise funds for Birmingham Children’s Hospital, where her nephew, Ollie, is being treated for a rare bone cancer.

In August 2014, nine-year old Ollie, was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma. He began his treatment the following month and has since raised over £12,000 for the hospital.

“Ollie is our inspiration”

Sara said: “Birmingham Children’s Hospital are helping Ollie in his fight against cancer, and I thought taking on the 10k was the best way to say thank you for everything they are doing for Ollie during his long, painful journey.

“Ollie is our inspiration; he hopes to raise enough money for the hospital to open a ‘chill-out’ room for children like him to relax, chat and forget about their illness, and I will do all I can to help him in his plight.”

Sara is preparing for a charity 24-hour spinning class for Ollie later this month, so hopes to be fighting fit for the 10k challenge in May.

She is running with two friends who are also supporting Birmingham Children’s Hospital and is hoping to raise £500 for her nephew’s cause.
